I am Patricia A. Long, the Executive Director of Uni’Que Basket Giving Corporation (UBGC) and its subsidiary, The  UBGC Community and Mobile Food Pantry, as a 501©(3) nonprofit organization, we are committed to supporting the well-being of the elderly, the unhoused (homeless), and those who are socially isolated, lonely, or forgotten. Our mission extends beyond food security to include literacy advocacy through our UBGC Reading Garden for Kids. Our goal to secure a residential house to be used as a commercially zoned food pantry, it would be beneficial if we can get the property as an in-kind donation to the organization; Uni’Que Basket Giving Corporation.

Our flagship initiative, The UBGC Community and Mobile Food Pantry aims to distribute fresh and healthy food to families in need. Additionally, coupled with a Reading Garden for Kids, thusly providing a unique space where literacy, learning, and the natural world intersect. UBGC’s solution involves the establishment of the UBGC Community and Mobile Food Pantry, coupled with the creation of the UBGC Reading Garden for Kids. Our mobile pantry will deliver fresh food directly to families, while the Reading Garden will inspire young readers in a serene garden setting.

Our solution involves two essential components:

  1. Computer Usage Area: We envision creating a dedicated computer usage area within our facility. This space will be equipped with faxing and copying services, allowing community members to access essential technology. By providing these resources, we empower individuals to connect, learn, and access information.
  2. Expansion Plans: Our ambitious goal is to establish another location within the next 5 years. By expanding our coverage area, we can reach more families in need, alleviate hunger, and provide essential assistance. We invite sponsors to join us on this journey of growth and impact.

3    Summer Lunch & Learning Program: Children aged 6-10 are the future leaders of our community. To nurture their growth and learning, we plan to launch a Summer Lunch & Learning Program. This initiative will combine nutritious meals with educational activities, ensuring that young minds thrive during the summer months.

4    Free-Standing Library: Literacy is at the heart of our mission. We aspire to create a free-standing library—a haven of books for kids. By encouraging reading, we empower children to explore new worlds, expand their imaginations, and develop essential literacy skills.
